Solving Damp Floor
Problems.
Rising Damp through tiled floors is fairly common. The damp-proof membranes used during construction of concrete floors are often thin, and can easily become torn before they are laid, rendering
them
ineffective.
Our solution is to use a liquid membrane floor coating that can be applied directly to damp floors. This method has the advantage of being extremely easy to apply and only
fractionally raising the floor-level. However, it is extremely important to ensure that the floor to be treated is free from contamination. New tiles can then be laid directly on
top.
Leaking Flat Roofs and
Patios:
Sika Liquid Membrane is a flexible waterproofing system for the repair and sealing of roofs and patios. The product is supplied as a red or grey liquid with a consistency similar to
that of a very thick emulsion paint. Once applied, the product cures to form a thick membrane that is flexible, elastic, and resistant to abrasion and UV light. Sika Liquid Membrane is
water-based and safe to apply onto damp
substrates.
Preparation:
All contact surfaces will be cleaned to a smooth finish. Any masonry will be flush pointed and defects in existing surfaces made good before the membrane is
applied.
Coating and
Coverage:
A minimum dry film thickness of 2mm will be applied to provide a vapour barrier. This will be applied in two coats. Before applying the second coat it is necessary to allow the first coat to become
touch dry, typically one hour. The second coat will be applied within 24 hours of applying the first coat. The Sika Liquid Membrane can be used as a waterproof primer for a screed or tiles.
On completion a 10 year written guarantee is issued.
